Marvel Plot Points

OK, I Was Wrong (Spider-Man: Brand New Day – *SPOILERS!* Do not read if you haven’t seen the movie!)

I am man enough to admit when I’m wrong, and I was.

I gave you, True Believer, the impression that I wholeheartedly believed that Sadie Sink was playing Typhoid Mary (or some variation thereof) in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. She is not. It hurts a little to say that. It does. I was so dead set that she wasn’t playing the character that broader outlets were insisting she was playing, that I wrote a datafile for the character I swore she was playing. In all honesty, the mob datafile I wrote for The Hand isn’t entirely accurate. More on that later.

This is not an apology.

In Marvel Heroic Roleplaying, we are given the license to go in every little alternate direction our twisted little hearts desire with Marvel (and beyond) stories. I can be wrong when it comes to movie speculation. Hell, that’s why I love speculating about movies. That’s why I love this game. Things can go, by design, far afield of established canon. In fact, that’s encouraged. So, when I or anyone else is wrong about a prediction, you can play in a branching universe that diverges from that story, and it’s all great.

That being said, we have a pretty different character from what I thought in the actual movie. That’s totally okay. There will be more on that subject in future posts. I have things in mind. What I’ll give you today is a more movie accurate version of the character, that functions very similarly, but there are important differences.

From here, she’s all yours, True Believer. This could get all kinds of weird, but I feel pretty good about this going forward.

Did she demonstrate any telekinesis in the movie? I don’t recall her doing so.

When her “jumps” get pushed to their limit toward the end, she causes the room she’s in to explode. Also, there’s that bit with the glass and Metzger where she’s absolutely moving things with her mind.
