Mob Datafile: The Hand

The Hand were first introduced in 1981 by Frank Miller. They are also the inspiration for the Foot Clan from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which is a reminder that the Turtles share their origin story with Daredevil, but that’s a topic for another day). The Hand have been a thorn in the side of Spider-Man, Daredevil, The Punisher, and various other heroes.

Today, we introduce The Hand and include a datafile for a mob of Hand Ninjas. Ninjas of the Hand are created when the group kills a target, and then through profane rituals that target is returned to life as a new Ninja for The Hand. This dark magic gives them a curious edge over other silent assassins: because they’re not technically alive, they are undetectable by telepaths and other supernatural senses, like Daredevil’s enhanced hearing (no heartbeats) or Spider-Man’s Spidey Sense. I guess their actions trip up Spider-Man because they come across as inanimate objects? I don’t know.
