After asking a friend if he wanted to come over and play a one-shot game of Marvel Heroic, he said “You know, One-Shot is a great name for a Marvel villain.”
So I decided to create a new assassin called One-Shot! An original character for Marvel Heroic, perfect for street-level heroes.
“David Kane was once a U.S. Army Ranger scout whose uncanny survival instincts made him the ideal subject for Project Providence, a secret military experiment designed to manipulate probability. The procedure left him preternaturally lucky, allowing bullets to miss, weapons to jam, and impossible opportunities to appear whenever he needs them. Now operating as the assassin One-Shot, Kane wears dark tactical armor, a weathered scout’s cloak, and a red targeting monocle linked to the remnants of the Providence program. He sells his skills to the highest bidder, but remains obsessed with proving to the Punisher that luck will always defeat preparation.”

SFX: Lucky Break: Step up or double Probability Manipulation on a reaction against a physical or ranged attack. If successful, inflict emotional stress on the attacker as their attack fails in an unbelievable way.
SFX: Just So Happens…: Spend a die from the Doom Pool to create a d10 Scene Distinction representing an absurd coincidence (“Loose Catwalk,” “Power Flicker,” “Distracted Guard,” “Wet Floor,” etc.).
SFX: Impossible Escape: Before rolling against an attack, spend at least a d10 from the Doom Pool to immediately remove yourself from the scene. Explain the unbelievable coincidence that allowed your escape.
SFX: One Perfect Opening: If your target already has any stress, step up Probability Manipulation and add a d6 to your pool.
SFX: Fortune Favors the Prepared: Whenever the Doom Pool rolls an opportunity, step up a die in the Doom Pool instead of spending that opportunity.
SFX: Dead Man Walking: Once per scene, if One-Shot would be taken out, instead remove all stress and complications from him, remove a d12 or 2d10 from the Doom Pool, and narrate the outrageous coincidence that saved his life.
Limit: Luck Runs Dry: When you roll an opportunity on Probability Manipulation, shut down Probability Manipulation. Recover by activating an opportunity or by removing yourself from the scene to regroup.
Weapon d10, Enhanced Durability d8
SFX: One Shot: If your attack inflicts physical stress, step it up for every die in the Doom Pool you spend.
SFX: Battlefield Instincts: When using Combat or Covert Specialties during the first exchange of a conflict, double your specialty.
SFX: Never Lost: Step up your Covert Specialty for tracking, reconnaissance, navigation, or infiltration.
Limit: Professional Code: Add a die to the Doom Pool when One-Shot refuses collateral damage against civilians.
