Hero Datafile: The Anarchic Spider-Man a.k.a. “Spider-Punk”

Spider-Verse Week 2 continues! Here’s one of the more popular characters to emerge from Spider-Verse: Hobie Brown of Earth-138. Nicknamed Spider-Punk in Amazing Spider-Man but actually called the Anarchic Spider-Man in Spider-Verse #2, Hobie didn’t become the Prowler on this world. Instead, he became a rebellious Spidey by way of the Toxic Avenger: bitten by a radioactive spider created by illegal waste dumping.

With great power, great responsibility, and a humongous amp, Spider-Man takes to the streets to fight the totalitarian policies of President Norman Osborn and his thuggish police force! But can he overcome foes enhanced by Osborn’s V.E.N.O.M. (Variable Engagement Neuro-sensitive Organic Mesh)? Although his excellent story in Spider-Verse #2 (by Jed Mackay and Sheldon Vella) answers that question, you’re free to use him however you’d like in your own campaign. In the meantime, search and destroy oppression with the Anarchic Spider-Man!
