Event Idea: The Doom Concordat

The world finally achieved peace.

And Doctor Doom wrote every word of it.

After years of war, invasion, political collapse, and superhero catastrophe, the nations of Earth are exhausted. Alien empires are fractured. Mystical realms are unstable. Even the Avengers are struggling to hold global trust together.

Then Doctor Doom offers the impossible.

Peace.

Doom gathers world leaders, monarchs, alien diplomats, mutant representatives, corporate powers, and mystic delegates in Latveria for negotiations known as the Concordat Summit. Against all expectations, it works. Border conflicts end. Trade resumes. Ceasefires hold. Superhuman incidents decline dramatically. The world celebrates the beginning of a new age of stability.

Then people begin changing. Political leaders become strangely obedient to Doom’s suggestions. Entire governments hesitate before opposing Latveria. Mystics report a growing pressure in the fabric of reality itself. Even gods seem wary of speaking Doom’s name aloud.

The treaties were never ordinary political agreements. Hidden within the legal language is an ancient form of binding sorcery woven into every clause, signature, and seal. Every nation that signed willingly surrendered a fragment of its sovereignty, its will, and symbolically, its destiny.

Doom did not merely negotiate peace.

He convinced the world to crown him.

Doom discovered an ancient pre-human ritual hidden within forgotten Latverian texts. The ritual states that rulership acknowledged willingly carries vastly greater mystical weight than rulership seized by force.

Every signature strengthens him.

Every nation bound to the Concordat channels authority directly into Doom through mystical law older than modern magic. The agreement transforms Doom into a living embodiment of order, rulership, and civilization itself. As more factions join the Concordat, Doom grows stronger. Not just politically. Cosmically. Reality begins subtly bending around his authority.

People instinctively obey him. Machines respond to his commands without programming. Ancient magical barriers open for him automatically. Even cosmic entities hesitate in his presence because, on some level, reality itself recognizes Doom as Earth’s rightful sovereign.

The Tone

This should feel less like an apocalypse and more like a world slowly realizing it signed a deal with the devil.

The skies are safe. People are smiling. Crime rates drop. Economies stabilize. Humanitarian aid arrives faster than ever before. Latverian technology improves global infrastructure. Doom publicly appears calm, reasonable, and visionary.

That makes the horror worse.

Heroes begin noticing subtle changes:

  • Journalists avoid criticizing Doom
  • Politicians unconsciously quote his speeches
  • Children draw Doom’s mask in school without understanding why
  • Ancient magical wards reconfigure themselves around Latverian symbols
  • Protest movements lose momentum inexplicably
  • AI systems prioritize Doom’s directives automatically

The world is consenting.

Key Factions

The Concordat Authority

An international governing body formed to enforce the treaty. Publicly cooperative. Secretly becoming an extension of Doom’s will.

The Free Nations Movement

Political dissidents, rogue heroes, and independent journalists trying to expose the mystical nature of the treaties.

The Mystics

Doctor Strange, Wong, Clea, and others discover the Concordat has damaged the metaphysical balance of Earth itself.

The Loyalists

Heroes and leaders who genuinely believe Doom saved the world and should remain in power.

Great Heroes for the Event

Reed Richards

This becomes deeply personal. Reed realizes Doom has accomplished what he never could: saving the world through intellect. That truth eats at him constantly.

Captain America

Steve Rogers recognizes the danger immediately. A peaceful surrender of freedom is still surrender.

Black Panther

Wakanda understands the weight of sovereignty better than most nations. T’Challa becomes one of Doom’s sharpest opponents.

Doctor Strange

The magical implications terrify him. Doom has effectively weaponized civilization itself.

Spider-Man

Peter Parker serves as the emotional heart of the story. He interacts directly with ordinary civilians benefiting from the Concordat.

Emma Frost

Emma sees both the appeal and danger of Doom’s vision. She becomes politically essential.

Scene Ideas

The Signing Ceremony

The heroes attend the historic signing in Latveria. Mystical players may briefly glimpse impossible shadows moving beneath the treaty text.

The Silent Protest

An anti-Concordat protest suddenly stops mid-chant as participants collectively lose the desire to resist.

The Library Beneath Castle Doom

The heroes discover ancient texts revealing Doom’s true plan and the horrifying final stage of the ritual.

The Vote

The United Nations prepares a final resolution granting the Concordat permanent authority over global superhuman activity. If passed, Doom’s transformation may become irreversible.

Using the Doom Pool

The Doom Pool should represent Doom’s growing authority over reality itself.

Spend Doom dice to introduce:

  • Citizens siding against the heroes
  • Magical compulsions
  • Systems obeying Doom automatically
  • Legal authority overriding resistance
  • Latverian agents arriving unexpectedly
  • Reality stabilizing around Doom’s plans
  • Heroes doubting themselves
  • International pressure against vigilante activity

The stronger Doom becomes, the more difficult rebellion feels.

Distinctions for the Setting

Excellent Distinctions include:

  • “Peace At Any Cost”
  • “The World Chose Doom”
  • “Order Is Addictive”
  • “Every Signature Strengthens Him”
  • “Freedom Requires Chaos”
  • “The Fine Print Owns Us”

Central Theme

The Doom Concordat is ultimately about the seductive nature of authoritarianism when it appears effective. Doom genuinely improves the world. Wars end. Stability returns. People feel safe. The heroes must answer an uncomfortable question: How much freedom are people willing to surrender in exchange for peace? That moral conflict gives the event weight far beyond another superhero war.
