The Muramasa Blade is one of the nastiest weapons in Wolverine’s corner of the Marvel Universe. It was forged by the legendary swordsmith Muramasa with Wolverine’s rage. It first appeared in Wolverine Origins #35, and has since become one of those weapons that changes the whole tone of a scene the moment it appears.
Weapon d10, Anti-Healing Edge d10, Soul-Cutting Strike d8
SFX: Healing Factor Bane: When attacking a target with a healing factor, regeneration, or supernatural recovery, step up or double Anti-Healing Edge. If the attack inflicts physical stress, the target cannot use healing-based SFX, powers, or recovery tricks against that stress until the end of the next transition scene.
SFX: Wounds That Remember: When you inflict physical stress with the Muramasa Blade, spend 1 PP to create a Lingering Muramasa Wound complication equal to your effect die. This complication represents pain, slowed healing, spiritual damage, or a cut that keeps opening no matter how fast the body tries to repair itself.
SFX: Cut Through the Monster: When fighting a target with Superhuman Durability, Godlike Durability, Stamina, or similar powers, add a d6 to your pool and step up your effect die when creating physical stress or a disabling complication.
SFX: Forged from Rage: Before making an attack, you may add a die from the Doom pool to your roll. If the attack succeeds, step up your effect die. Whether you succeed or fail, the Watcher may create or step up an emotional complication such as Bloodlust, Old Rage, Kill Him Now, or The Blade Wants More. Return the die to the Doom pool and step it up.
SFX: The Killing Stroke: Against a target who already has physical stress or a Muramasa-related complication, spend 1 PP to reroll your dice pool. Keep the new result.
Limit: Cursed Purpose: Gain 1 PP when you choose violence with the blade and the Watcher creates or steps up an emotional, moral, or reputation-based complication tied to that choice.
Temporary Wielder, 5 XP: You gain access to the Muramasa Blade for one action scene. After the scene, it is lost, reclaimed, or placed somewhere safer.
Claim the Blade, 10 XP: Add The Muramasa Blade as a temporary Item Power Set for the rest of the event. The Watcher should regularly test whether carrying it is worth the danger.
Blood Debt, 10 XP: You may use Wounds That Remember once per session without spending 1 PP, but each time you do, the Watcher may create an emotional complication at d8 or step up an existing one.
Break the Curse, 15 XP:
You can reforge, purify, seal, or symbolically master the blade. Remove the Cursed Purpose Limit and replace it with:
Limit: Sacred Burden. Gain 1 PP when you refuse an easy killing blow and accept a complication based on restraint, mercy, or hesitation.
