Just after getting Plot Points back up off the ground a couple months ago, we were contacted by a great guy, Mirko Esposito. He had for us an incredible event: Fear Itself. This week, we’ll be bringing you this fantastic event from him. At the end of the week, a PDF featuring the complete event will be on-hand for you to download. We’re very pleased to be presenting this to you now.
Mirko, take it away.
Behold impotent the rise of an ancient Asgardian God, who will make the whole Earth fall in fear and despair!
The Serpent’s grasp on Earth is tight and painful, all the nations are in anarchy and people are fighting and looting. Is there a chance for Midgard? Who will stand for it against the ancient God Serpent?
A group composed by any mix between Avengers, Heroes for Hire, X-Men or unaffiliated heroes would be good as Midgard’s heroes will need as much help as they can muster to save the realm. Villains could be accepted as well, considering that they will try to save their own planet.
This is the main group and the almost totality of scenes could be played by this unitary but wide group.
Due to the high Asgardian involvement, the players could create a group of only Asgardians to fight against the serpent.
You can chose an Asgardian character (Plot Points has an extensive selection of Asgardians), excluding Thor or Odin, or create one with Asgardian Racial Power Set plus Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Ranger, Rogue, Summoner, Warlock or Wizard class Power Set (Detailed at the end of the week).
Most of the scenes are available for Avengers or Asgardians, few instead will only be available to an Asgardian group.
The Serpent’s magic hammers have transformed superhumans into gods and driven them mad. Who will stop them?
1 XP when you either try to face a worthy or refrain from fighting him.
3 XP when you discuss the importance of taking down a worthy to weaken the serpent’s grip on earth and assemble a team.
10 XP when you defeat a worthy reinstating hope in the cause or you suffer trauma in the attempt deciding it’s not time to fight anymore.
The Serpent is the new ruler of earth, and you are his worthy herald!
1 XP when you inflict emotional stress in the name of The Serpent.
3 XP when you wield successfully the Worthy hammer to brake the resistance against The Serpent inflicting trauma to an adversary.
10 XP when your actions lead to an important victory to the serpent (Defeat of Asgardian, magic-empowered Avengers beaten, city resistance slain or catastrophe caused) or your defeat causes the Asgardian forces to obtain the upper hand.
This is a war between Asgardian All-Fathers, we need all the help that Asgard can provide to stand a chance!
1 XP when you attempt to gain an help from Asgard.
3 XP when you successfully collect an Asgardian resource, asset or unlockable.
10 XP when you are able to share your acquired Asgardian favor to other heroes in order to fight the serpent or when your fierce attempts lead to Odin’s ban from Asgard’s matters.
Earth is has never been so broken and human spirits in such a turmoil. How do you keep hope alive?
1 XP when you gather a group of people to make a stand against The Serpent’s army.
3 XP when your leadership fails and causes you or someone to take trauma or a civilian to die.
10 XP when you lead your side to a significant victory or resistance, or your attempt fails and cause someone’s death (one ally or a mob of civilians).
To win a war everyone needs to give everything they have got.
1 XP when enact your intentions to embark on a potentially harmful situation.
3 XP when you hurl yourself at a bigger threat or in an outnumbered or outpowered fight in order to make an example of the courage and fierceness of Midgard.
10 XP when your struggle against The Serpent’s army leads to death, or to not be able to come back to your previous status or someone who steps in to save you has the same fate.
Asgard is officially not in war with the Serpent, but some Asgardians can’t just let Midgard and their heroes die without assistance.
For 5xp, 2 Asgardians will help the hero with one action each during for 1 round. For 10xp they will help as supporting characters for a full action scene.
Asgardians and humans have fought and lived alongside each other for quite some time now, having an insight on how Asgardian magic works is becoming easier even for non-Asgardians.
By buying this unlockable (5XP) during a transition scene, you can create a resource as though you had one of the following specialties granted by your closeness with Asgardian culture and people:
Cosmic, Combat or Mystic at Master level.
Midgard is a place of heroes both between superhumans and humans.
For 5xp you can gain a mob of patriots (4d6) fighting with you for one scene, or the aid of one supporting character who is part of a group like Avengers, Heroes for Hire and also X-Men. You must have had contact with this person before unlocking them. For 10xp you can unlock that character as a player character or have the mob of patriots or the hero fighting with you for the rest of the act.
Few people are able to shape the course of things with their remarkable efforts and convictions. Are you able to shadow them?
For 5xp you can unlock either Steve Rogers, Iron-Man or Thor for a scene only, in order to fight their main fights (respectively against Skadi, against Odin and against the Serpent).
There are more than just Serpent’s hammers. Mjolnir is still the most powerful magic asgardian hammer ever created.
When the Mjolinr is out of Thor’s grasp, you can roll against the doom pool to prove yourself worthy. If you succeed, spend 5xp to use it for the action scene. You can decide to spend 10xp more in order to transcribe the power set in your dataset and effectively become the god of thunder (read CW53 more information about the ability to use it at the fullest).
For the final battle against an ancient Asgardian evil god, we need Asgardian power!
For 5xp you can unlock a power up of for one scene, increasing your main 2 power traits by 1 step (offense and defense generally) but every opportunity that the Watcher activates when you are using it increases the die size by one. For 10xp you could unlock the weapon for a full act. You must have earned Odin’s respect in order to be able to activate this unlockable.
After you have proven your value to Odin, he sees in you the only hope to destroy The Serpent.
For 10xp you can wear Odin’s Armor and Sword (Ragnarok) that will allow you to slain the serpent. Most likely this will cost your life, winning the battle but fulfilling the prophecy.
Serpent’s Hammers of the Worthy are on Earth and the call is strong in you.
If you successfully roll against the doom pool, spend 10 XP to wield a hammer for the rest of the event, effectively adding another power set to your dataset or changing your “weapon” power set with this new one. Your intent change and you are a servant of the Serpent’s will, change a distinction to “BREAKER of ???” based on the hammer you pick up. For a full list look later for the Item and Power Set Datasets.
It looks even cooler on the website!
