Havok is not just Cyclops’ brother. He is a much cooler version of the iconic X-men longtime leader! When I first got into X-men comics, Havok was a current member and he became one of my favorite 616 characters. So you can image how excited I am to deliver this datafile.
I think that Havok has three very defining characteristics that define him:
Nice
I like how you included Power Cancelation as an SFX. I remember we had that conversation way back on X-Factor Milestones about that. Reminds me of the X-Men Cartoon when the X-Men threw down with X-Factor. Cyclops and Havok are just going all out on each other with nothing happening and how fustrated they got.
I like it but I don’t agree that it should cost a PP. The ability is not based on anything in the plot, it is built in and always active. I love the trade of physical damage for emotional damage from it though………
I totaly see your point about it not costing a PP. But, my idea was to emulate the frist time Havok activated this SFX, probably he even didn’t know he had it, but if it was running on a table, that kind of twist and rule bending would still cost PP’s. Feel free to remove it. Maybe, i change it on this one and release a “B” version.
Well, the model for SFX is you spend something to get something in the book. I love the fact that you have the emotional die step up when he is attacked by Cyclops, so that would satisfy the whole spend something (emotional stress) to get something (immunity to Cyclops blast).
I really like how you handled the collateral damage he can deal when his power gets out of hand. The combination of Raw Power and Friendly Fire is a great mechanic.
I don’t, however, feel like Power Cancellation merits being an SFX. I think it should be handled more like Carnage’s immunity to Spiderman’s super senses. At most, it’s an aside that can be dealt with rationally by the players rather than being a mechanical effect. And I agree with talon378 that it definitely should not cost a PP.
Oh, and lastly, Alex is not immune to Vulcan’s power. He can resist it because he is resistant to all forms of energy, but it’s not a straight cancellation as it is with Scott.
I’m definitely going to steal some of the things you did here and update mine (http://kclose3.com/blog/2012/07/94983), for sure.
Very nice version of Havok! Love the template!.
I wil take note of your suggestions, and try to mix it into a alternate version of havok!
It’s only fair since I’ve already stolen the Friendly Fire sfx. I’m working it in right now and should be updating mine by the end of the day. 😉
Kacey, let me know when its done!
Oh, he’s all updated!
Great job! Congrats on the template too, it is awsome!.
Thanks, I’m trying to get to a point where I can make it a form-fillable template. I keep getting requests, but I’m pretty sure it’s outside of my realm of ability to do so.
