Monday Milestones: S.H.I.E.L.D.

I’m back with a brand new, fresh from the oven Monday Milestone!

It’s Avengers Week here at Plot Points, so we’ll be bringing you lots of MHRPG goodies that tie into Marvel’s iconic super-team. But since you already have team milestones for The Avengers, this week’s milestones are for the Avengers’ best “frenemies”: S.H.I.E.L.D!

I want to thank Felipe for helping out with the second Milestone path. I thought it turned out really well, and it provides a neat little story-arc for a SHIELD Agent character.

Now, the question is: who is the tie-in character this week? Nick Fury would have been the obvious choice, but we’ve already done him. Same for Daisy Johnson. So, who could it be?

Take your guesses in the comments. Same deal as before. If you guess correctly, I’ll come up with stats for the Marvel character of your choice.

Given that you’ve already done Hawkeye, and it’s Avengers week — his card-carrying S.H.I.E.L.D. member ex-wife, Mockingbird?

So many people to choose from, but I am going with someone very new and very timely with the Avengers movie coming out. Marcus Johnson AKA Nicholas Fury Jr AKA 616’s answer to why Nick Fury will look like Samuel L. Jackson. Hopefully with his buddy Phil “Cheese” Coulson.

Coulson was my second guess, based strictly on the scene in Thor with the Destroyer: The line “Stark never tells me anything…” seems like it would get at least 1XP from both milestones.

I’m going to go with my gut and say Maria Hill.

No one will guess DumDum Dungam?

Dum Dum was my first guess, but I second-guessed myself for Mockingbird.

I’m going to guess… someone other than Batman. I know I’m right on this one!
If I had to be more specific, I would have guessed Maria Hill, but she’s already been taken.

Funny that you mention Batman and S.H.I.E.L.D. In the very short lived Amalagam Universe Bruce Wayne WAS an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Here are a bunch of SHIELD unlockables I wrote for my game:

5 XP – You may select a single Watcher character to have the Dirt on. The Dirt is a d8 Complication you may roll when in any kind of conflict with that character. (Secrets that help you emotionally manipulate the situation, weak points for fighting them, etc.) The Dirt lasts to the end of the Event. You may select this Unlockable multiple times – each time it gives you the File on someone new. The Dirt doesn’t count for purposes of selecting dice for your die pool – you don’t have to pay a Plot Point to roll it even if there is more than one Complication you want to roll.

5 XP – SHIELD Director Maria Hill gives you the Skinny on SHIELD activities. The Skinny is a d8 Complication you may roll in any kind of conflict with any SHIELD agent or group. (Secrets that give you leverage, deployment orders when physically fighting them, etc.) The Skinny lasts to the end of the Event, unless Maria or another high-ranking SHIELD official can win a conflict against you targeting the Skinny. The Skinny doesn’t count for purposes of selecting dice for your die pool – you don’t have to pay a Plot Point to roll it even if there is more than one Complication you want to roll.

10 XP – You get access to a badass experimental superspy suit Stark Industries sold them and then forgot about. This is a Power Set with Durability d8 and one of the following: Invisibility d8, Weapon (you choose the details) d8, Flight d8. It has the Gear Limit and the Mutually Exclusive Limit with any other Gear you have. You choose one SFX.

15 XP – You are made Director of SHIELD or second in command of SHIELD (your choice). This includes all the benefits of Champion clearance above, but extends into the next Event as well.
