Hero Datafile: Doctor Spectrum
Here, in honor of our Squadron Supreme thrust, we present Doctor Spectrum, Earth-712’s Green Lantern.
Part of the fun of working on the Squadron Supreme is that it gives some of us the chance to throw a little at DC Comics without leaving the Marvel Universe. If people like what they see here, there’s a possibility that this event can extend beyond just this week. Your feedback will help that along.
I personally am a huge Green Lantern fan (I actually LIKED the movie), and in fact made him for the Marvel RPG the very first night I had the book. The biggest challenge for me in scraping off the serial numbers and renaming the guy Doctor Spectrum was the Milestones. My Green Lantern had all sorts of ties to Oa and Parallax, two concepts that just don’t exist in the Marvel universe. I had to manufacture a few things, but I think the end result works. I’d love to hear what others think.
**Note**: If you want to play the Amalgam Universe and actually use the Green Lantern, make sure to involve some of those DC-centric ideas in your milestones. Hal Jordan is deeply tied to the Corps, and that really needs to be represented.

I feel like the Watchers and the Nova Corps sort of allow for a pretty solid translation of the Green Lantern Corps., though. I’ll have to work on it.
It’s true that the Nova Corps are nearly a direct translation of the Green Lantern Corps, but keep in mind that Doctor Spectrum is from Earth-712, not Earth-616 like Nova. I expect we’ll be seeing some Nova Corps mojo in the Annihilation Event.
