A fan site for the Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Game by Margaret Weis Productions
Howdy, fellow MHRPGers!
I am honored that Mark has brought me on board and allowed me to contribute to this awesome blog! But first, introductions are in order. My name is David White and I am a nerd.
(Peer group says: Hi, David.)
Like all of us here at Plot Points, I love Marvel Heroic Roleplaying, both for its subject matter and for its inventive roleplaying system. It was regrettably short lived and, like all of us, I wept bitterly when I heard the news that Margaret Weiss’ Productions was shutting down the production of this great game. (Wait… No one else cried?…. Well, this is awkward…)
The Event posted here is my first attempt at making an Event using the Marvel Heroic Roleplaying rules and format. During the creation of this Event, I was using different computers (namely my home computer and computers at my school) and it turns out that during creation, I lost the original files… But luckily I had printed out the file and saved it as a PDF. I printed out the datafiles and mixed and matched with the PDf I had already printed out and took it all to Home Depot to have them scan it all and put it together. I type all that to say, “Please don’t judge my Event by its cover!”
But I digress! Let’s get to the main Event! (See what I did there?… No?… -_-)
THE AVENGERS ARE DEAD!
Ever since the first mutant gene manifested, mutants have been regarded as outcasts and, at the worst, monsters, and have been shunned from society. Professor Xavier’s lifelong dream has been to bridge the gap between homo sapiens and homo superiors. To further this goal, Professor Xavier created the X-Men, a team of mutant that fight for human and mutant equality. Play as your favorite X-Men from the popular 1990’s “X-Men” series written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by Jim Lee. Rise up to fill the vacuum left behind by the World’s Mightiest Heroes and uncover the mystery behind the Avengers’ disappearance.
I hope you all enjoy my first Event and if you do, I’ll be sure to post more in the future!
Excelsior, True Believers!
Also, I realized that the scanned-in Hero Datafiles look purely AWFUL in the Eventbook, so I decided to attach the original PDF files here for you all.
See? Don’t they look so much better?
(Addendum: I attached an addendum to the final page of the Event, with corrections to some of the mistakes I made. So, please refer to that if you find yourself scratching your head. Like I said, I wasn’t able to polish this as much as I would have liked. And I’m sure there are plenty of other mistakes I didn’t catch. Here’s to learning how to make a better Event next time! –clink-)
