Howdy, True Believers!
We continue our coverage of Marvel NOW 2015 with a young hero that made his debut a few years ago, but will definitely play a more prominent role in events to come and as a full-fledged Avenger starting this Fall.
I was never a huge Nova fan (nothing against Richard Rider, I simply just didn’t read his series), so when it was announced that a new teenage Nova would appear in Avengers vs X-Men, my interest was piqued. His debut and origin were a bit muddled, with him being introduced in AvX before anyone even knew who he was (not cool, Marvel), but young Sam Alexander soon became a fan favorite.
Teenage superhero dramas are some of my favorite comics to read. Adding super powers and the responsibilities of being a super hero to the already angst-ridden life of a teenager is just so appealing to me. Also, young and undeveloped characters present a blank slate that begs for writers to think creatively and I think getting to watch a heroes’ story unfurl from the beginning is the best.
Without further ado, here is Sam Alexander, fresh to your table and into your hearts!
Enjoy and excelsior!
I love the new Nova! Seriously, I think more people should put aside their nostalgic love of Richard Rider (not get rid of it, just give it a place of honor on the mantle for the time being) and give Sam Alexander a chance.
The Richard Rider Nova remains one of my favorites, but Sam and his story have made for some great comics over the last couple of years.
Can you please upload a larger version of the datafile. It’s hard to read for these old eyes, and when I try to make it larger it blurs.
Yeah! Sorry about that. The datafile she be full size now.
Nice, but should he not possess the power to fly between the stars?
Pump flight to w12 or give him an sfx which pumps it up for this purpose, if you think that he otherwise misses the control for that much power.
It’s a Nova helmet after all..;)
You make a good point, Gideon. Maybe an SFX that reads like this:
“SFX: Space Flight. Shutdown all BLACK NOVA HELMET powers to gain Space Flight d12. Shutdown Space Flight d12 to regain powers.”
